Dortmund general manager Michael Zorc was quoted by German newspaper Bild yesterday, claiming the Bundesliga champions had tabled a new offer for the teenager which they expected to be accepted by the Mariners.
BVB had previously offered the Mariners AU$135,000 for Amini's services in April after impressing during a trial at the club, but the A-League outfit rejected the deal claiming they valued him much higher.
The deal appeared to have gone cold until reports surfaced in the German press yesterday suggesting Dortmund were ready to up their offer and secure Amini's services.
However, the Mariners told au.fourfourtwo.com as, of Saturday morning (when the report surfaced), the club hadn't received a new offer from Dortmund.
A Mariners spokesperson, though, did acknowledge their had been indications a new offer would be received in the coming week but doubted it would be near the reported AU$340,000 which was speculated by Bild.
Amini, who made 23 appearances and scored one goal last term, is contracted with the Mariners until mid-2012.
