CELTIC have targeted Australia as a key focus for talent identification as the Scottish giants prepare for their academy seminars starting later this month.
Greig Robertson, International Academy Development Officer at Celtic told au.fourfourtwo.com that their Sydney seminars aim to both promote the Celtic brand and allow the club to scout potential Aussie stars in their own backyard.
“Club partnerships around the world are important for talent identification and we are always looking out for that Golden Nugget who could be the next Scott McDonald,” said Robertson.
“It really gives us a wonderful opportunity to create a global network of coaches to indentify players and we want coaches and players to have unique access to Celtic through our international academy program."
Robertson said the Celtic International Academy has five clubs signed up as partners, with three in America, one in Kuwait, and one in Australia - Schofields Scorpions.
“Our academy staff are fed to these partner clubs around the world and we deliver coach education to the club. We will work with the club's coaches and players, with some of them given the opportunity to come along to Glasgow to see our youth academy,” added Robertson.
Celtic have further extended their Australian involvement by working with the AESFA (Australian Elite Soccer - Football Academy) to host four one-day coaching seminars in Sydney on 27, 29 May and 8,10 July.
