Speaking to reporters in South Africa, FFA CEO Buckley said there was plenty of interest in taking on the Socceroos' job.

Numerous names have already been linked with the role and there were reports earlier this week that the FFA was prepared to boost its war chest to attract the very best candidates.

"There has been an excellent response from many, many different coaches around the world," Buckley told AAP.

"The calibre of that response has been extremely high. We're confident going forward we'll have the right candidate in place."

The FFA is hoping a new man will be in place for the Asian Cup in January next year and then lead the Socceroos to the 2014 World Cup.
