The Morocco international had found first-team opportunities at Arsenal limited throughout the campaign, and he made a January move to Upton Park in order to find regular football.

However, during his spell under Allardyce he only made three appearances and failed to find the back of the net.

And the 29-year-old - who joined Palace ahead of the new Premier League season - has now criticised the West Ham manager for luring him to the club under false pretences.

"I made a bad choice," Chamakh told the Daily Star. "Things did not go well at all.

"West Ham’s manager (Sam Allardyce) promised me I would get playing time what with Andy Carroll’s injury.

"But he spun me a line that he did not respect at all. I was tricked."

Chamakh also revealed that Alou Diarra - who had joined West Ham five months earlier - tried to warn the striker about moving to the club.

Diarra made just four appearances before being loaned out to Rennes as Chamakh was joining the club.

"Alou Diarra, who was at West Ham, warned me what might happen," he added. "But I was stubborn and joined the club anyway."

Chamakh made a brief substitute appearance in Palace's opening-day defeat to Tottenham, but could feature against Stoke City.
