Basel – who made the quarter-finals last season in Europe's premier club competition – took a 2-0 lead into the second leg against Estonian side Flora.

And in Switzerland they added to that with a 3-0 triumph sealing their easy progression.

Cameroon forward Jacques Zoua bagged a first-half double, netting on nine and 31 minutes, before Chilean defender Marcelo Diaz added to the margin in the second half.

F91 Dudelange of Luxembourg claimed a remarkable victory on the away goals rule after they lost 4-3 to Red Bull Salzburg in Austria.

The visitors won the first leg 1-0 but were only given an outside chance of progression.

They took the lead after 26 minutes through Thierry Steinmetz though, stunning the hosts into action.

In response, Jakob Jantscher and Martin Hinteregger scored before the break to level the aggregate score at 2-2.

Aurelien Joachim and Steinmetz netted in the 12 minutes after half-time for the Luxembourgians, and although substitutes Cristiano and Gonzalo Zarate scored in the final 10 minutes for Red Bull Salzburg, they would be dumped out of the competition on away goals.

Irish side Shamrock Rovers were knocked out after losing 2-1 to Lithuanian outfit Ekranas.

After a goalless first leg, goals from Serbian midfielder Marko Andjelkovic and Zilvinas Kymantas were enough for Ekranas, despite a late Gary McCabe penalty for Rovers.

Hungarian side Debrecen overturned a one-goal deficit from the first leg with a 3-0 home win over Skenderbeu Korce, with Frenchman Adamo Coulibaly bagging a brace for the winners.

HJK Helsinki built on their 7-0 lead gained in the first leg with a 2-1 win over Icelandic side KR to progress while other sides to progress were Sheriff of Moldova, Azerbaijan side Neftci, Slovan Liberec of the Czech Republic and Israeli outfit Ironi Kiryat Shmona.

Serbian side Partizan Belgrade, Maribor of Slovenia and Norway's Molde also progressed to the third round on Wednesday.

Clubs such as Celtic, Feyenoord, Panathinaikos and Anderlecht will join the competition in the next stage.
