QATAR League defending champions Al Gharafa made an impressive start to their title defence with a 4-1 win over Al Khor in their opening match of the season.
Al Gharafa struggled in the early stages but took the lead after 37 minutes when Lawrence Quaye broke into the area before firing home.
Brazilian striker Clemerson de Araujo made it 2-0 in the last minute of the first half and they continued their dominance after the break and scored their third through Iraq striker Younis Mahmoud.
Al Khor pulled a goal back after 84 minutes when Algerian striker Rafik Saifi struck with a powerful shot from outside the area but De Araujo scored a fourth goal for Al Gharafa with a looping header three minutes later.
Sebastian Soria was the star of the show as Qatar SC came from behind to defeat Al Rayyan 5-2.
Al Rayyan took the lead after only six minutes through Guinea striker Pascal Feindouno with a powerful free-kick that hit the left upright before landing inside the goal and Sayed Ali Bechir made it 2-0 with a shot from inside the area after 18 minutes.
Qatar SC pulled a goal back three minutes before the break through Marcio Jose de Oliveira after he had pounced on a rebound from Soria's effort.
Soria continued his impressive display in the second half and he was the architect of the equaliser after 57 minutes when his shot bounced off the goalkeeper and Abdulla Al Kawari followed up to put the ball in the empty net.
The Qatar international striker turned from provider to scorer two minutes later as he received a pass inside the area before scoring with a low shot.
Qatar SC scored their fourth goal after 78 minutes when Soria was fouled inside the area and De Oliveira scored from the spot before Soria sealed the win with three minutes remaining.
Elsewhere, Al Wakra salvaged a late 1-1 draw with Al Khraitiyat.
