Despite starting the day in last (Bristol) and second last (Barnsley) on the table, Peterborough were consigned to bottom spot after the two strugglers in action earned a valuable three points in their fight to avoid relegation.

The pair now sit equal on 28 points - still four points deep into the drop zone.

Barnsley were buoyed to victory over Millwall courtesy of second-half goals to Chris Dagnall and Jason Scotland at Oakwell Stadium.

Scotland was a substitute for Marlon Harewood, and took less than 60 seconds to find the back of the net with a strike into the top-left corner of the net, to add to Dagnall's close-range opener on 56 minutes.

Bristol City also wrapped up a two-goal victory at Ashton Gate Stadium, taking care of fourth-placed Watford.

Despite being some 20 places apart in the table, it was relegation-threatened Bristol that did the damage on the scoreboard, with Gregory Cunningham and Paul Anderson striking for the hosts.

Cunningham struck a 35-yard pearler to open the scoring just prior to the break, before Anderson tucked one away into the bottom left corner 20 minutes after the re-start to seal a vital three points for Bristol.
