Chelsea are set to increase their offer for Sevilla wing-back Daniel Alves after the Spanish club rejected an initial bid of $55million.
The player's agent remains confident the two clubs will soon reach an agreement - paving the way for Alves to move to Stamford Bridge.
Negotiations between all parties remain ongoing but Chelsea are determined to land the player, who has already made it clear he wishes to move to west London.
Agent Geronimo Suarez is not worried by latest hold-up and believes the transfer will go through.
He said: "We are expecting a solution between the clubs and are confident they are going to reach a deal.
"Sevilla have good reasons to maintain a hard position for the player because he is a star for them and they want him to stay there. Of course Chelsea want him, so both clubs at this moment need more time.
"It is not in my hands, it is in the hands of the directors of Chelsea and Sevilla, but we can hope the solution will arrive as soon as possible.
"He is determined to go there. He wants to close the deal as soon as possible."
Sevilla turned down Chelsea's first offer and a statement on the club's official website read: "Sevilla would like to clarify, in relation to the news in various media stories relating to negotiations between this club and Chelsea of England for the transfer of the player to the London club, that Sevilla has considered the offer made by Chelsea to acquire the player as way below the level expected by the club.
"This being the case, Daniel remains a player of Sevilla FC."
Meanwhile, following the earthquake in Peru on Wednesday evening, Chelsea striker Claudio Pizarro has expressed his sympathy for the people affected by the disaster back in his homeland.
Pizarro originates from Callao, near the capital Lima, which is 165 miles from the coastal province of Ica, where the earthquake was most strongly felt.
Pizarro is distressed after seeing the effects of the disaster, which is reported to have killed at least 337 people.
"I would like to state my sadness at what has happened back home in Peru," he said. "It is very sad to see so many people affected by the earthquake, but I am sure the people of my country can recover from this terrible blow."
