A Chelsea TV programme called 'Best of Lampard' included a description claiming to show "the most exciting action from the former Blues midfielder".

While Chelsea have looked to distance themselves from the error by saying that it is host company Sky Sports who design and create graphics for their programming, it fuels speculation that the midfielder will not be at the club next season.

Lampard's contract is set to expire in the summer and chiefs at the London club are yet to offer a new one, with rumours that he could be on the brink of a move to MLS franchise LA Galaxy, after he was reported to be house-hunting in California.

The midfielder joined the club in 2001 and has regularly weighed in with impressive goal tallies, including this season, with the England international notching 14 times despite being limited to sporadic appearances under Rafael Benitez.

While fans have made it known that they wish Lampard to stay, Victor Moses has also backed calls for him to be given a new contract, saying in the week that the squad are keen for him to remain a Chelsea player.

"Everyone would like to see Frank Lampard stay next season," the Nigerian said.

"He has been magnificent for us this season, he's scored goals and created goals at the same time.

"He is a legend for this club and the players would love to see him here next season."
