Chievo move away from relegation after 2-1 win over Livorno.
Chievo moved three points clear of the relegation zone - for a few hours at least - after coming from behind to beat Livorno in Verona.
The home side started the day level on points with Parma, who are third from bottom, and will be watching with interest as Vince Grella`s men take on Mark Bresciano's Palermo.
The Flying Donkeys certainly placed more pressure on Parma thanks to a victory that owed as much to determination as it did skill.
Trailing to Cristiano Lucarelli`s 17th-minute opener, the home side stormed back and levelled through a Sergio Pellissier effort 10 minutes into the second half.
They clinched a vital three points 19 minutes later when substitute Erjon Bogdani found the net.
Chievo`s gameplan was evident from the outset with Franco Semioli and Luciano employed as out-and-out wingers.
It almost reaped early rewards with Semioli`s third-minute cross headed just wide by Pellissier.
Semioli carved out another wonderful chance two minutes later with Victor Obinna somehow heading wide from two yards when it appeared easier to score.
Having struggled to get out of their own half in the opening 15 minutes, Livorno finally created an opportunity with Stefano Fiore shooting wide.
Lucarelli, who earlier in the week announced his intention to leave his home-town club at the end of the season, showed Fiore how it should be done shortly after.
Carmine Coppola played him in with a clever knock down and Italy international Lucarelli did the rest with a crisp finish for his 18th goal of the season.
The goal knocked the stuffing out of Chievo and Livorno almost doubled their advantage after 20 minutes when Coppola`s powerful drive struck the post.
Chievo responded with an Andrea Mantovani header which required a smart save from Livorno goalkeeper Marco Amelia.
And Amelia came to the fore once more after 38 minutes to keep out another header from Mantovani.
There was nothing Amelia could do after 55 minutes, however, as the hosts drew level with Pellissier showing the greater urgency to get on the end of Semioli`s cross and finish with his left foot.
Chievo keeper Lorenzo Squizzi had to work hard to maintain parity, pulling off a wonderful double save to keep out efforts from Coppola and Antonio Filippini.
And as Livorno pressed for a second goal, Squizzi again excelled, deflecting Lucarelli`s powerful shot on to the bar.
Chievo went ahead with 14 minutes to go with a goal which came against the run of play.
Luciano`s corner was whipped in and Bogdani rose above the defence to plant his header past Amelia.
Livorno never looked like finding an equaliser and Chievo will now switch their attention to Sunday night`s clash in Palermo.
