Pascal Chimbonda's agent has admitted the full-back is frustrated at Tottenham but denies he disrespected his team-mates or the club.
Chimbonda has spoken previously of his surprise at Spurs buying Chris Gunter from Cardiff and looking at Rangers' Alan Hutton, who both play in his right-back position.
Despite reports suggesting the 28-year-old did not care about reaching the Carling Cup final this week with victory over rivals Arsenal, his agent Willie McKay insists that is not the case.
He said: "Pascal cares about Spurs, he cares about his team-mates, he cares about his football and he cares about his career."
McKay added: "There is no hiding the fact that Pascal is frustrated because the club are looking at new full-backs to replace him, but he would not disrespect Tottenham or his team-mates by saying he does not care about the club.
"Even if he does move on Spurs will always have a place in his heart, as will the fans.
"Anyone who thinks differently only has to look at his celebrations on the pitch after the win over Arsenal on Tuesday night and that proves everything."
Spurs have been in negotiations with Juventus midfielder Tiago this week but no deal has been concluded and other Barclays Premier League clubs are reported to have joined the race for the Portugal international.
Middlesbrough defender Jonathan Woodgate has also been targeted and talks between the player and Spurs were understood to be under way.
Paul Robinson, meanwhile, has revealed he expects to remain at Spurs until at least the end of the season despite losing his place in the starting XI to Radek Cerny.
Head coach Juande Ramos has been impressed with the goalkeeper's attitude.
"He is a great professional," said Ramos. "A squad is made up of 20-plus players and only 11 can play.
"He has played, had his opportunity, but at the moment one of his team-mates is playing and he (Cerny) is doing very well.
"The goalkeeping position is one of confidence. Whoever plays there has to feel calm and not feel pressured about making a mistake."
