Having hammered Indonesia 7-1 on Friday, goals from Edinson Cavani, Cristian Rodriguez and Sebastian Fernandez along with Feng Xiaoting's own goal saw the South Americans eventually see off the hosts.

Uruguay had the first chance of the game when Diego Lugano headed Diego Forlan's corner over the crossbar after quarter of an hour, before Forlan's long-range effort six minutes before the break called Zeng Cheng into action as the keeper dived full length to turn the ball away.

Maxi Pereira wasted the best chance of the first half shortly afterwards, firing wide when he had only the keeper to beat and it was not until the 70th minute that Uruguay opened the scoring thanks to Feng, who put through his own net when he tried to clear a Luis Suarez effort.

Cavani doubled the visitors' advantage eight minutes later, latching onto a poor pass by defender Du Wei and steering the ball beyond Zeng.

Rodriguez rifled in a superb 30-yard effort eight minutes from time and Fernandez completed the scoring three minutes later, driving home a loose ball in the penalty area.

"The scoreline doesn't necessarily reflect the gap between China and Uruguay," said Uruguay coach Oscar Tabarez. "We didn't stamp our authority until the first goal."

It was China's biggest defeat since boss Gao Hongbo took over the national side in May last year.

"Our defence was under heavy pressure today," said Feng.

"After all, we struggled to guard our goal for 70 minutes against a powerful side. We are inferior to the rivals and the score proved it."
