A brace from Daniel Majstorovic helped Basle maintain the pressure on Swiss Super League leaders FC Zurich with a 3-0 victory at home to Grasshoppers.
The Sweden international opened the scoring after just eight minutes and Ivan Rakitic (54) doubled the advantage early in the second half, before Majstorovic's second in stoppage time gave the hosts an easy win.
The three points leaves them a point behind the leaders, while Grasshoppers remain sixth.
Also on Sunday, St Gallen remain fifth after earning a 1-1 draw at Lucerne.
Mauro Lustrinelli (14) fired the home team ahead before substitute Guy Armand Feutchine (55) secured the visitors a share of the spoils 10 minutes into the second half.
