EX-SOCCEROO Scott Chipperfield has decided against an A-League return next season after signing a new one-year extension with Swiss champions FC Basel.
Chipperfield, who scored in Saturday's 2-1 Super League win over Young Boys, has agreed a deal which keeps him at St Jakob-Park until June 2012.
The 35-year-old Australian has been with Basel since 2001 making 368 appearances and scoring 84 goals.
The contract extension ends speculation linking Chipperfield with a return to Australia.
In December, the former Wollongong Wolves man was linked with a switch to Sydney FC for the 2011/2012 season.
Chipperfield has won 10 trophies with Basel during his time in Switzerland, including five league titles and FCB are currently in pole position in the race for the title this term.
