AUSSIES ABROAD: Scott Chipperfield's FC Basel head into the final decisive game of the Swiss Super League as leaders after a 3-0 win over Neuchatel Xamax overnight.
Chipperfield started up front for Basel but failed to break through, seeing a right-foot first-half effort go over the crossbar.
Basel won it with three second-half goals, one from Marcus Gelabert while Alexander Frei, who came off the bench for Chipperfield on 65 minutes, grabbed a brace.
The Swiss giants leapfrog former leaders Young Boys on goal difference, after they lost 5-1 at FC Luzern on Thursday.
Basel travel to Bern to meet Young Boys on the final day of the campaign this Sunday.
In Belgium's Pro League relegation/promotion playoffs, Aussie striker Nikita Rukavytsya drew a blank as KSV Roeselare slumped to a stunning 3-0 loss at Eupen. Rukavytsya played a full game for KSVR.
