SOCCEROO Scott Chipperfield has been voted FC Basel's 2009/2010 player of the season by the club's supporters after a terrific campaign in Switzerland.
Chipperfield scored 15 goals during the season, 13 in the Super League, one in the Schweizer Pokal and one in the Europa League, as Basel claimed a rare league and Cup double.
The Australian international did miss three months of the campaign with an ankle injury but following his return in mid-February proved prolific in front of goal.
Chipperfield received almost 39 per cent of vote from a survey of over 6000 Basel fans to win the honour ahead of Xherdan Shaqiri and Valentin Stocker.
"It's nice to know that the fans appreciate my work on the field," Chipperfield told the official FC Basel website.
"Since my first day in Basel I have received great support!"
Chipperfield, who signed a new one-year-deal with Basel last month, added his next concern was the 2010 World Cup with Australia.
"We have a tough group, but I am confident that we can play a good World Cup," he said.
"Our first goal is, of course, to survive the group stage. And a goal against Germany would not be bad either."
