CHRIS Herd has been ruled out of the Socceroos' World Cup clashes against Oman and Thailand, the FFA confirmed today.
The Aston Villa defender sustained an ankle injury in the final moments of the English Premier League match against Norwich City on the weekend.
The 22-year-old was in line for his first Socceroos cap, but after consultation with the player, his club and the Socceroos medical staff, Osieck has decided that Herd would not be required for the matches in Muscat and Bangkok on Friday and Tuesday.
Osieck has opted not to replace Herd in the squad, meaning the squad has been reduced to 22 players.
