Chelsea's Peruvian striker Claudio Pizarro insisted he could have broken his leg following a tackle by Kalifa Cisse during Wednesday night's 2-1 victory over Reading.
Cisse was red-carded for a second bookable offence but Royals boss Steve Coppell hinted that the Chelsea striker had 'made a meal' of the second-half incident at the Madejski stadium.
Pizarro, who replaced Paulo Ferreira at half-time, helped Chelsea to overturn a one goal deficit within five minutes of the restart and is now looking forward to playing a part in Chelsea's vital clash with Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
But the Peruvian striker was adamant that Cisse's challenge was a dangerous one and that he was not 'cheating' when he went down clutching his leg in agony.
Pizarro declared: "Of course he kicked me. I pulled my leg away, if I had not pulled my leg at the end, he could break my leg. I was lucky that at the end that I could pull my leg away. But I still had a big cut in my leg - you could see from my sock."
Pizarro's all-action style was a major factor in Chelsea's victory over Reading and the former Bayern Munich star insisted that sometimes teams have to combine aggression with good football to get results.
He added: "I think at the beginning against Reading we slipped a little bit - they were more aggressive. They showed they wanted to win the game and we didn't.
"We were trying to play but sometimes you need not just to play but to fight a little bit. In the second half we tried to fight a little bit more and play as well.
"We have got six points right now and that is very important for a team. It is a tough game at the weekend but we hope we can win that.
"The preparation for the Liverpool game has been the same as always. We know both teams have a chance to win the Premier League so it will be important for us to win the game.
"I have heard about the rivalry between the two clubs but for me it will be just another important game. We have to be prepared for everything.
"I am glad to play with this team and I hope the game will be good. I have to make a difference because that's why they bought me. That's what I am trying to do. I am trying to do my best and be in a good shape. I want to win titles and I hope we can do that this season."
Pizarro opened his striking account with a goal in the 3-2 win over Birmingham last Saturday and, so far, he has been happy with his overall contribution.
Pizarro added: "I am happy with what I've done here. I'm not really fit right now but I am trying to do my best and working hard to be in a good shape. Little by little I am getting there.
"The goal was very important for me because it was the first game and it was important to get a goal to give me a lot of confidence. I am feeling good right now with that.
"The football here is a little bit more direct than German football, it is faster and there is not too much passing in midfield. It is as tough as Germany and I like it."
Chelsea have captain John Terry back for the trip to Liverpool and, with Ricardo Carvalho out with a thigh problem, he will line up alongside Tal Ben Haim after recovering from his knee ligament injury.
His return was welcomed by Pizarro who added: "John Terry is a very good player and a leader of the team. It will be important for the team that he will be back for this game."
