Midfielder Adam Johnson admitted Manchester City are happy to take on any opposition at the moment after powering into the Carling Cup quarter-finals.
Three days after beating Manchester United 6-1 in the Premier League, City demolished Wolves 5-2 in the cup at Molineux.
"Them getting the early goal lifted everyone," said Johnson, who scored City's equaliser and also had two assists as the visitors came from a goal down.
"The first 20 minutes were shaky but once we got the ball down and passing and moving and the second goal, it was virtually over."
After United's win on Tuesday over Aldershot the Manchester rivals could meet in the competition, but Johnson added on Sky Sports 2: "We'll play anyone at the minute, our confidence is up and anyone we play against we'd be confident away or at home.
"It doesn't matter who we get."
City boss Roberto Mancini praised Johnson's performance, but stressed: "He played well but I think Adam can do more because he has everything to be one of the best wingers.
"I think he can do better. A player should never think 'If I do this it's enough'. He can improve a lot."
Wolves boss Mick McCarthy was not too downbeat after a battling performance from his side, who took the lead through Nenad Milijas in the 18th minute.
He said: "I'm certainly not down by the way we played. We've had a right good go. I can't fault us. Generally it's been us making mistakes, but their first goal was a fabulous finish.
"They are a good team and they punished us. I've had some good performances but that was an object lesson in finishing for me."
