Melbourne City has signed promising teenage striker Braedyn Crowley ahead of the A-League 2016/17 season.
The striker joins on a scholarship contract until the conclusion of the 2017/18 season, and was unveiled on the first day of the Club’s pre-season training camp in Townsville, where Crowley commenced his junior career with Northern Fury.
A striker who possesses great pace and a keen eye for goal, Crowley has previous A-League experience with the Newcastle Jets, making five appearances in 2015 after breaking through the club’s Foxtel National Youth League squad.
It was Crowley’s success at NPL Queensland club Northern Fury which attracted the attention of A-League scouts, with the attacker winning the NPL QLD Young Player of the Year award after netting a club record 17 goals during the 2014 season.
“It’s unbelievable, it’s a dream come true to sign with a Club like this,” Crowley said.
“To train with players like Tim Cahill and Bruno Fornaroli, it’s definitely up there.
“I’m going to learn so much off them and hopefully I can improve my game.”
Crowley’s arrival at City follows recent signings Michael Jakobsen, Tim Cahill, Josh Rose, Neil Kilkenny, Bruce Kamau, Daniel Arzani, Ruon Tongyik, Luke Brattan and Manny Muscat, and the re-signing of Dean Bouzanis, Nick Fitzgerald and Anthony Caceres
Crowley joined his new teammates during the Club’s pre-season tour of Townsville this week and is available for selection against his former side in Wednesday evening’s friendly match.
