INGLEWOOD United suffered a surprising 3-2 loss at home to Floreat Athena.

It looked like it was going to be another good day for the in-form United side after Ryan Clarke opened the scoring in the 9th minute.

The lead lasted only four minutes as new Athena signing Kyle Moran lobbed Oliver Taseski in goal.

Floreat keeper Alex Dunn saved an Inglewood spot kick in the 36th minute in what was a significant moment in the context of the match.

Goals from Michael Van Dongen and Liam Boland in the 62nd and 81st minutes respectively gave Floreat a 3-1 lead. Perth Glory midfielder Viktor Sikora played a key part in Boland’s goal.

Jake Geddes netted a consolation in the 88th minute as Floreat secured their fourth win in five matches to move into sixth position.

Armadale 4 (James Robinson (2), Matt Barlow, Own Goal)
Cockburn City 0

ARMADALE thumped Cockburn City 4-0 in a relegation six-pointer at Alfred Skeet Reserve.

Cockburn dominated the early exchanges but couldn’t make their dominance count before Matt Barlow scored with Armadale’s first real attack in the 23rd minute.

Armadale dominated the second half with goals from James Robinson in the 50th and 88th minutes, either side of an own goal.

A second yellow card to Craig Robson in the 91st minute was the only sour note for Armadale.

The result keeps Armadale within touching distance of the middle part of the table.

It means one of the league’s most prominent clubs in Cockburn face an uphill battle to avoid relegation as they find themselves six points adrift at the bottom of the table.

 
Perth SC 2 (Andreas Oliviera, Vlad Naumovski)
Sorrento 1 (David Foster)

AN understrength Perth SC side managed to sneak a 2-1 victory at home to the in-form Sorrento.

After a tentative first half, things came to life just before the break. Sorrento won a penalty that David Foster duly converted in the 44th minute past Devon Spence.

The Gulls sat back in the second half but were undone when Antonio Naglieri brilliantly fed Andreas Oliviera who slotted past Curtis Aspden in the 57th minute.

With the game seemingly headed for a draw, a long ball found Vlad Naumovski who scored the winner in the 87th minute, despite calls for offside from the visitors.

It means Perth remain comfortable in second place, while Sorrento’s advantage over the chasing top five pack is five points.

 
Balcatta 2 (Ashley Rosindale, Stephen Burton)
Western Knights 1 (Stuart Montgomery)

BALCATTA bounced back from a defeat last week by overcoming the Western Knights 2-1 at home.

It was Balcatta’s star attacking duo that did the damage again. Both sides had chances in the first half but neither side was able to find the back of the net.

It took until the 66th minute for the opening goal as Stephen Burton narrowly broke the offside trap before goalkeeper Frazer Siddall saved his shot, allowing Ashley Rosindale to tap into an empty net.

Burton netted himself in the 79th minute after Siddall tipped Spencer Harris’ shot onto the post.

Knights veteran Stuart Montgomery scored a consolation in the 87th minute. A late Branimir Mikulic effort for the Knights was gathered well by Lewis Italiano to ensure Balcatta  returned to winning ways.

 
Stirling Lions 4 (Anthony Skorich (2), Bobby Wilson, Ludo Boi)
Mandurah City 2 (Rafael Insaurralde, Garin Collins)

STIRLING Lions overcame Mandurah City 4-2 in a very entertaining clash at Macedonia Park.

Mandurah went in front through Rafael Insaurralde in the 26th minute. The Lions were in front by half-time thanks to three goals in 13 minutes.

Anthony Skorich scored in the 32nd and 45th minutes and Bobby Wilson jagged one in the 36th.

The frantic spell of action also included a penalty miss from Insaurralde in the 43rd  minute.

Garin Collins pulled one back for Mandurah in the 49th minute. Ludo Boi sealed the points for Stirling with a strike in the 71st minute.

 
ECU Joondalup 1 (Ian McMurray)
NTC 2 (Reece Vittiglia, Hanafi Ghazali)


THE NTC secured their first win of the season after defeating ECU Joondalup 2-1.

Ian McMurray scored from the spot for ECU in the 30th minute. Goals from Reece Vittiglia in the 57th minute and Hanafi Ghazali in stoppage time gave the NTC a morale-boosting win.

NTC games are not contested for points and therefore the results of those games are not tabulated.
