SYDNEY FC's Simon Colosimo says attendances at Moore Park can reach as high as 25,000 this season despite the poor numbers at the turnstiles over the last month.
"Our crowds are up from where they were previously," Colosimo told SEN radio's The Four Diegos show.
"Apart from Melbourne, which has gone against the trend, they're more of a walk up sort of crowd. They won't commit to a full season.
"Here we've got the Rugby League finals here and there's a lot of tradition with the sport, that plays a huge part.
"We've had a slow start but with players coming back we're starting to find our feet. I don't think it'll be too long before we'll be sitting with an average of 18-25,000 fans at home games come the second half of the season."
Colosimo meanwhile is hoping to be back after an operation to rectify an osteitis-pubis problem in his groin.
"It gradually started to get worse. I tried to get through it but it was getting too much, even just passing a ball.
"I'm in the rehab process now. I'm walking around and in the gym but I won't join up with the group for another few days."
Colosimo estimated it would be six to eight weeks before he was back fully in training. He's expected to be back in the sky blues first team by late December.
