After the kick-off was delayed for almost 45 minutes due to the heavy rain in Bogota, Brazil rarely threatened Colombia goalkeeper Agustin Julio despite fielding Ronaldinho, Kaka and Robinho alongside CSKA Moscow striker Vagner Love.

Colombia's Colon midfielder Freddy Grisales was a constant threat to Brazil throughout and fired a first half free-kick just wide of Julio Cesar's left hand upright before sending an inviting cross across the face of goal in the second half.

"Considering how the game progressed, it was a good result for us," said Brazil goalkeeper Cesar. "Colombia marked us very tightly and we were not able to find space to hurt them.

Defender Juan added: "We knew it would be difficult for us because we would have a lot of things against us, but we deserved the point."

Brazil entertain Ecuador at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday, while Colombia travel to Bolivia.

"Colombia close to claiming the victory," said Cafeteros coach Jorge Luis Pinto, who was sent to the stands in the first half.

"We controlled Brazil, the world's best team with the world's best players. We did is perfectly."
