SIMON Colosimo is thrilled to be back in the green and gold mix with the Sydney FC defender determined to make the most of his opportunity in Kuwait next month.
Colosimo and Alex Brosque were today named in Pim Verbeek's Socceroos 23-man squad for the upcoming Asian Cup qualifier against Kuwait on January 6.
The former's club form has been impressive this year and he had been widely touted for an international recall.
Colosimo makes a return to the national squad for the first time since appearing in a friendly against China in Guangzhou in March 2007.
"It has been a while since I put on the green and gold so it will be great if I get the opportunity in January and I will take the chance with both hands," Colosimo said.
Brosque, who was called into the Socceroos squad for November's Asian Cup qualifier against Oman in Muscat, has also been in outstanding form in the A-League and is now on target to make his fifth international appearance.
"Travelling to Oman and training with the guys was a great experience and to be selected again is pretty special for me. Every time you get selected to represent your country is a feeling that is hard to describe," Brosque said.
Both players have A-League matters to focus on first though. Sydney FC entertain Central Coast Mariners at the SFS tomorrow night.
