EXCLUSIVE: Simon Colosimo could be a K-League player within days with rumours the Sydney FC star is due to the leave Australia tomorrow (Tuesday) bound for South Korea.
The Socceroo, who played for the Sky Blues in their 4-0 win over the Jets, was watched by FC Seoul representatives over the weekend in the rout of the reigning premier.
However, Colosimo's agent Leo Karis tells au.fourfourtwo.com that the club interested in the elegant defender is a familiar name for Melbourne Victory fans.
"There has been interest from Chunnam Dragons, though we're a long way off a finalised deal."
The Dragons were in Melbourne Victory's ACL group stage in 2008.
The former Perth Glory captain has one more season left on his contract at Moore Park and so any potential club would need to agree on a fee with Sydney.
Colosimo has barely played for Sydney this season after an injury at the start of the season kept him out until this month.
Karis also denied the player was leaving town tomorrow but said the exodus of Aussie talent was likely to continue with the introduction of the 3+1 rule.
"I've been surprised with the amount of interest in Australian players. Obviously in leagues like the K-League, earnings potential is much greater.
"And I think the like of Jade [North] and Sasa [Ognenovski] will do very well. "
The 3+1 rule means an AFC player can move to another Asian league without being considered a visa player.
The agent said if there was an exodus of the cream of A-League talent, it would not put pressure on the FFA to speed up increases in the A-League salary cap. He says the gap in earnings is too wide right now.
"For players earning say $7-800,000 a year in the K-League or J-League, or even more, it would be a significant adjustment to the salary cap here.
"Anyway, you won't be able to stop these sorts of players going overseas."
