Carbone played just three games for Sydney before he sustained an injury playing Central Coast in round eight of the 2006/07 season. The playmaker has not played competitively since leaving Australia, but did take part in a World XI side that played a memorial match held in the honour of England football legend Alan Ball.

Pavia is a small town in northern Italy and Serie C2 is Italy’s fourth strongest league. Last season, Pavia played in Serie C1 but were relegated along with five other Serie C1 sides.

Carbone did not take part in Pavia’s 3-1 victory over Rodengo Saiano on the weekend. Meanwhile, Australian Max Vieri is now playing in Serie C1 for Calcio Lecco.
