Confidence and momentum is the theme among the Socceroos squad at the moment and in-form striker Tomi Juric says that bodes well for a massive month.
Juric arrived in Adelaide over the weekend after netting his fourth goal in five games for FC Luzern in Switzerland on Friday.
He’s not alone in terms of having confidence and form, with Aaron Mooy, Mitchell Langerak and Tom Rogic all enjoying recent club success.
Jackson Irvine was integral to Burton Albion’s surprise survival in England’s Championship, while Aziz Behich played his part as Bursaspor warded off the drop in Turkey over the weekend.
As well, Jamie Maclaren, Dylan McGowan and Mathew Leckie have all sealed recent transfers which appear to be a step-up in their careers.
"There’s no reason not to be confident,” Juric said. "A lot of the boys have done really well this season.
"There have been some encouraging moves for the boys into new clubs and that’s really good for us.
"You can tell Australian football is moving forward. If we can keep this up, it’ll be great for us.”
Juric reserved special praise for Mooy and Rogic, who both missed Australia’s last qualifier, the 2-0 win over UAE.
"I was speaking to Aaron this morning and really got into him about his price tag!” Juric said.
"He’s a really down-to-earth fella who isn’t one to talk about that.
"I’m not surprised to be honest because you’ve seen how well he’s played this whole season.
“He’s been fantastic for Huddersfield in helping them win promotion to the Premier League.
"Tom has come back from injury and won the Scottish Cup in the dying seconds of the game.
"I bet they’re both full of confidence coming in with us. They’re really important players for us and we need them in this camp."
Meanwhile, Mooy backed coach Ange Postecoglou’s 3-4-3 formation which has split opinions.
"I think it suits the squad that we have,” Mooy said.
“We have a lot of players that suit that style, that formation, and it's worked quite well so far."
