The South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) will meet in Paraguay on Friday to discuss FIFA's decision to ban international matches at an altitude higher than 2,500m above sea level.
The ban affects countries such as Bolivia, Colombia, Peru and Ecuador, and Conmebol president Nicolas Leoz is set to meet Bolivian president Evo Morales before an executive committee meeting where Morales will ask Conmebol to vote against the ban.
Conmebol will analyse a report written by the body's medical committee before discussion between the institution members.
Ecuadorian Football Federation president Luis Chiriboga has called for Conmebol to unite against the ban.
"If we say Conmebol is a family, it has to be a family for everything," he said.
"We can be a united family for everything or a united family for nothing. That's Ecuador's position in this trouble."
