Juventus have officially launched an appeal to the Italian National Olympic Committee on behalf of their coach Antonio Conte.
Following a summer full of legal proceedings regarding the latest scandal to befall Italian football, Conte was handed a 10-month sideline ban, a sentence that last week was confirmed by the Italian Federal Court.
However, the former Italy midfielder is continuing his fight and with his club behind him, has now taken his appeal to CONI in an attempt to have his ban reduced.
The Turin-based side are hoping to have Conte's suspension reduced by at least four months, which would enable the trainer to return to the sideline in the latter half of the new season.
In a document containing 70 pages and more than a dozen attachments, including reports filed together by a group of lawyers, the club is aiming to show that given the omittance of one of the two matches where Conte had originally been judged to have failed to report match-fixing, the ban should be reduced considerably.
The appeal also aims to discredit Filippo Carobbio, the player whose single testimony helped ensure the guilty verdict for Conte's alleged involvement.
