ADELAIDE United coach Rini Coolen believes his side bounced back from last week's 7-1 loss to Brisbane Roar but wasn't fully satisfied with Friday's 1-1 draw with Melbourne Heart at Hindmarsh Stadium.
The Reds needed a 77th-minute goal from Spase Dilevski to earn a point against winless Heart, who had gone ahead early in the second stanza through Brendan Hamill.
Coolen told reporters after the game his side naturally felt the pressure after a slow start to the campaign but was happy to see them respond to last week's 7-1 mauling from the champions.
“It was pressure like normal because you definitely prefer to win games at the start of the season and also because of the expectations in our team, you can’t walk away from that,” Coolen said.
“But we were very disappointed with the way we played last week, so you have to bounce back and I think that’s what the boys did…we have to move on now and take the good things out of this game.”
Coolen added he believed his side deserved the three points from the contest.
“I’m disappointed because I thought we deserved a little bit more than a draw today,” the Dutchman said.
“It was a great effort from the boys and I think you saw from the start of the game that the boys were still looking for some confidence, but during the game it got better and better.
“At the end of the day we wanted the win and we deserved the win but we didn’t get more than one point. But for me it’s important that I can do something with this game because there were a lot of positive things to come out of it and that was different from the last couple of weeks.”
Meanwhile, Heart's Dutch boss John van 't Schip rued another failed opportunity to claim their first win of the season.
"All the play that we showed, especially the second half, was getting better and better and the only thing is that we missed the three points," he said.
Adelaide's next game is at home to Gold Coast next Friday, while Heart host Round One opponents Newcastle on Saturday.
