Lavicka has yet to make his mind up over whether he wants to carry on at the club and officials are keen for an answer sooner rather than later.

But the now-retired Corica is hoping Lavicka sees his future in Sydney.

"Of course I think he should stay on," the 37-year-old told AAP.

"I think he's done a fantastic job for the club. He won everything in his first year and obviously things haven't gone too well in the second year.

"But I would love for him to stay for another season and give it another go next season."

And Corica is optimistic that the current campaign can still be salvaged.

He added: "Nicky Carle will be back in the next couple of weeks, (Alex) Brosque is back, Bruno (Carazine) is back as well now so things are starting to fall into place."
