Sydney backed up from their Sydney Derby with Western Sydney Wanderers on Saturday to make the flight down to South Australia for last night's game.

And they will no sooner be back in Sydney than they return to the airport to fly down to Melbourne to face City on Friday night.

Corica insisted his squad was up to it – but said the date of the big game could be far better organised by the suits at FFA HQ.

"I think it should have been played that week leading into the start of the A-League or on an international break," he said.

"We've got one coming up in November so you know that's something they need to look at maybe for next season.

"So early in the season to play three games in six days is not easy for our boys."

Corica spoke out after losing the final 2-1 to a brace of goals from a rampant Craig Goodwin for the Reds.

"We need to put that in the past now," he said. "Of course everyone's disappointed but I've explained to them we have another game in two days time on Friday night.

"Obviously it's a busy schedule this week. Three games in in six days is not easy especially after a loss and in the cup as well.

"It's disappointing but we're going to do everything we can to recover to give ourself the best chance to win in Melbourne. These players have done that before. They've been here before.

"They're played in bigger matches as well."

But while Corica congratulated Adelaide on their victory and the way the fans got behind their team at Coopers Stadium, he insisted: "I believe we were the best team on the night.

"We looked more like scoring than what they did. It was tight but we dominated most things. Other than the two goals, I don't think they had a shot on target.

"Defensively we were great. The boys put in a wonderful effort. I'm very proud of what they achieved."

He added: "Congratulations to Adelaide. They fought very hard. They got the win. They got the two goals and they were cracking goals from Goodwin.

"But I thought we were unlucky in the end. It would have been nice to win obviously – first final for me and the in the cup but it's not to be,

"It doesn't matter. We will move on – there's another three competitions that we're in..."
