The tournament brings U-12 teams from Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Darwin and Perth to play against each other for the first time ever. 20 under 12 boys’ club teams from across Australia will compete in the national tournament which will be played over two days on the first weekend in October. The winning team will represent Australia at the Volkswagen Junior World Masters 2012.

Leichardt Saints team manager Howard Charles commented on how excited his Sydney team are ahead of the tournament: ”Having had a great finish to our winter season competition the team are now focused on the privilege and once in a lifetime opportunity of competing in the Volkswagen Junior Masters”.

Former Socceroo and Volkswagen Junior Masters Australia ambassador Steve Corica is looking forward to the on field action: “These teams represent the best in grassroots Australian football. I am excited to see teams from across the country come together to take part in the first ever Volkswagen Junior Masters Australia.”

The tournament was launched in Germany in 1999 and now features national tournaments in 20 countries around the globe with over 850 teams taking part. The winners of the 2011 Volkswagen Junior Masters Australia will qualify for an all expenses paid trip to represent Australia at the Volkswagen World Junior Masters 2012 to be played in Warsaw, Poland ahead of Euro 2012.
