Burnley came within three minutes of knocking out Tottenham in midweek and booking a place in the Wembley final.

But they picked themselves off the floor to force a 2-2 draw at The Hawthorns thanks to a last-gasp equaliser from Martin Paterson.

Graham Alexander's spot-kick had put Burnley ahead but goals from Robert Koren and Kim Do-Heon looked to have clinched victory for Tony Mowbray's side.

Coyle said: "Everyone expected us to turn up here and roll over but everyone who knows me will know I have unbelievable faith in this set of lads.

"When we have got them all fit and available, and doing what they are asked to do, then we know we are a good side. We have shown that today against a good side in terrific form.

"We have gone 2-1 behind right on half-time and we have come in and it would have been easy to feel sorry for ourselves.

"But I have so much pride at the way they went about things, and the character and the desire they showed for the football club and for each other, and that is very important.

"Given the events of the last week, two penalties going against us at Preston and going out like we did to Tottenham, it would have been easy to think it is not my day again.

"But I can't ask anymore than they gave today.

"Albion were the better side in the first 10 minutes of the second half but then we started to get a grip on things and missed some unbelievable chances and Scott Carson made a world-class save.

"We have ended up with five forwards looking to get that equaliser and we got there. It would have been easy for the lads to feel fatigued, especially mentally, after the events in the week and the final being snatched away against Tottenham."

Coyle admitted: "I gave the players Thursday off to spend with their families and just recap, not the disappointment but what they brought to the game against Tottenham, and they could hold their heads held high.

"But I told them I wanted the smile back on their faces when they came back in on Friday."

Baggies boss Mowbray was frustrated at his side being held to another replay after Peterborough forced a 1-1 draw in the third round.

He said: "It is hugely frustrating but it is part and parcel of football and we have got to get on with it.

"I was disappointed with the performance in the first half. You have got to give Burnley a lot of credit. They play the game in a manner I appreciate.

"Having got in front at half-time, we should have gone on to finish the game off and we had enough opportunities after half-time to do that.

"At 3-1 it would have been a long way back for them after all the effort they put in this week.

"They always had something to chase and go for and they got a goal and good luck to them. They took a wee chance by pushing extra men forward and they reaped the rewards."

Skipper Jonathan Greening has been added to Albion's lengthy injury list after suffering a medial ligament problem.

Mowbray said: "Until we get a scan, we won't know how long exactly he will be out but I would suggest it will be at least two to two and a half weeks.

"Greening has been our most influential player and has been since I walked in the building. He said it was his first injury in 14 years and he is a bit distraught about it. Let's hope it is a short absence."
