SOCCEROO defender Chris Coyne accepts he has no divine right to a first team spot at Colchester United.
The 29-year-old club captain returned to the team against Ipswich Town in the Carling Cup during the week, having warmed the bench for much of the season so far.
He told BBC Essex: "It would be unjust for me to say I warrant a spot.
"I've got to earn it like everyone else and I'm going to keep working my socks off to make sure I can cement a place in the side.
"It just shows you the strength in depth that the manager's brought into the side.
"I was pleased to get a run-out, because I'm not one for sitting on the bench, I hate it and try to kick every ball for the lads."
Coyne has been included in Pim Verbeek's squad for the forthcoming friendly with Holland.
