Adelaide goalkeeper Paul Izzo was an immediate hero in the Reds 2-1 win on Friday night after almost gifting victory to Brisbane.
Reds boss Marco Kurz praised the 22-year-old for redeeming a bad situation caused by rushing off his line too early and giving the home side a clear sight on goal.
Sitting on 1-0, Roar were on the brink of going two clear on 48 minutes when Izzo pulled off a sharp double save, first with his shoulder and then his boot, to deny Nicholas D'Agostino and keep the Reds hopes alive.
Kurz said: “The error was crazy and the two saves after were great and that can be a turnaround in a game.
“When they score, maybe you lose and (instead) you are in the game.
“(Izzo) is a young goalkeeper. He makes mistakes in his career but he makes after the error two big saves and it’s good for us in this moment.”

Kurz’s men have taken four points on the road and the German vowed never to play it safe, pointing to the team’s ability to run over opponents in the final minutes.
“We can do a lot of things better,” he said of their stoppage time win against Roar at Suncorp.
“I think we make too many mistakes…I hope now with the victory we have more confidence in our quality and in our game.
“I think we have the power to win the game and the referee showed that’s it five minutes overtime. I saw that we have more power in the last minutes. Maybe a 50-50 situation but I will win games and not give the order to play a draw – that’s not my mentality.”
