Portsmouth striker Peter Crouch is hopeful Dr Sulaiman Al Fahim can lift the club like Roman Abramovich did at Chelsea.
Al-Fahim, a property billionaire, is in line to take over at Fratton Park and could provide investment in the same way as Abramovich has since arriving in English football.
"You see the changes at Manchester City and Chelsea some time ago and they benefited those clubs," Crouch said.
"Hopefully our club can go the same way.
"You hear that he has a lot of money and a great deal of ambition so hopefully he can push the club forward. I think that is what we need.
"Things are changing at Portsmouth every day and it's exciting. I am looking forward to being a part of that."
Meanwhile, Crouch has also welcomed new Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti to the Barclays Premier League.
Ancelotti, who left AC Milan yesterday, has been appointed at Stamford Bridge on a three-year deal.
"He has got fantastic credentials and been there, seen it, done it," said Crouch, who played against Milan last season in the UEFA Cup.
"Chelsea have some fantastic players already and I am sure he will do a fantastic job and slip in there quite easily."
