The 29-year-old left back chipped in with three assists as the Sky Blues ran riot, extending their lead at the top of the A-League table to 12 points.

A brace to Bobo, and goals to Milos Ninkovic and Adrian Mierzejewski saw the visitors stroll away with the Blue Ribbon Cup.*

But with their AFC Champions League campaign kicking off on Wednesday, there's no risk of Graham Arnold's men taking it easy.

Zullo said the reigning champions had "so much quality" but remained hungry for improvement.

"Tonight, I think, we played very well in patches but we’ve still got more in us and we’ve got big games coming up so this is good preparation," he told Fox Sports.

"The coaching staff and players are not accepting just a win, or not accepting a good performance, we always want more.

"I think that pushing ourselves every week is paying dividends."

Despite laying on three goals, Zullo said it wasn't his best performance for the Sky Blues.

"I probably didn’t have my best game in general," he said.

"I had three good moments and I took them and I’m happy with that – but I still think there’s a lot I can work on to improve from this game."

The one and only highlight for third-placed City was the return of former Golden Boot, Bruno Fornaroli.

The Uruguayan, who has been sidelined with injury since August last year, entered the fray just after the hour to a standing ovation.

He lashed the ball into the back of the net soon after, but the goal was scrubbed out for a foul on Jordy Buijs.
