Guardiola's new-look Barca have been in record-breaking form during the former captain's first six months in charge since taking over from Frank Rijkaard.

Their 6-0 win over Valladolid at the Nou Camp on Saturday made them the first team in 50 years to score 34 goals in the first 10 rounds in the Primera Liga.

It also cemented their place at the top of the league standings with almost a third of the season played.

There had been doubts over the 37-year-old's promotion from his role as Barcelona B coach during the summer, due mostly to his lack of coaching experience at the top level.

But Barca legend Cruyff, who was one of the biggest campaigners for the Guardiola's appointment, believes the coach has restored pride to the Catalan club with his combination of attractive football and positive results.

"He's doing really well, going step by step, doing things as he believes they should be done," he told Barca TV.

"He's aware of all the details, and he always tries to get the most out of every player. It's a pleasure to see him on the bench.

"(People like Pep) try to make the games enjoyable for the people, and that's a real added bonus. It's not just about winning the match, it's something else. And that is what gives you the most pride."

But while the mood in Catalan capital is mostly a positive one, Saturday's game revealed there is still some discontent among the fans when it comes to Thierry Henry.

The former Arsenal forward was subjected to jeers and whistles from the Nou Camp crowd at times during the match, despite the fact he set up Eidur Gudjohnsen for Barca's fifth goal and scored the final one himself.

Cruyff admitted he was "disgusted" by the fans' attitude towards the Frenchman, and called on them to show more support.

"The noise the fans kick up about Henry disgusts me," he added in his weekly column in El Periodico newspaper.

"Goals are important but they're not everything. Football is also about how you play without the ball, how you move and what you do when you've got it.

"Everyone has their own style, their qualities and their errors. Why does everything have to be summed up by saying 'this player is good and that one's mediocre'?

"Everyone is a part of this squad, and the strength of this Barca side, aside from its style and spirit, is in its versatility."
