After a lucky 1-0 win in Bahrain and a defensive 0-0 draw against Japan, Culina says a more attacking Socceroos squad will be looking to give frustrated fans another "magical" night at Sydney's ANZ Stadium.

"I think we owe the fans something special," Culina told the Gold Coast Bulletin. "And that's what we're working on.

"We have been very defensive in our last two World Cup games and while we've got the results, we know people want us to express ourselves in a more attacking way -- and we'll be doing our best to give them what they want.

"We'll be going out to entertain and hopefully score a few goals to give the supporters -- and ourselves -- something to remember."

A victory could make Australia the first nation to qualify for South Africa 2010, assuming Bahrain and Qatar draw on the same night. If results don't go their way, Australia still have a further three games in hand.

"We know how close we are to qualifying," said Culina. "You can almost taste it but you also know that nothing is yet confirmed. The three points are still out there to be won."

But the midfield maestro warns that the Uzbek team should not be underestimated.

"They are far better than their position," Culina insisted. "We had a few scares and I'm surprised they struggled.

"There won't be any excuses are far as we're concerned. We'll be in camp for eight days. It looks like we'll be almost full strength with the likes of Harry Kewell back and we have time to get everything just right."

Culina will be making his 39th Socceroo appearance at the same stadium where John Aloisi scored his unforgettable 2005 penalty against Uruguay.

He added: "It would be magical if everything goes our way and it turns out to be another historical night."
