NAC Breda 1 PSV Eindhoven 1
Stuttering Eredivisie leaders PSV Eindhoven handed their title rivals another boost after dropping further points at NAC Breda on Saturday.
Ronald Koeman's side have now picked up just two points from their last three Eredivisie games, putting second-placed AZ Alkmaar - now five points behind after a 2-0 win against RKC Waalwijk - and Ajax within striking distance.
It could have been worse for PSV but for Jefferson Farfan rescuing a point 16 minutes from time after Arne Slot had netted his fifth of the season for NAC.
The Yellow Army, themselves looking to bounce back from a 4-2 defeat at Heerenveen, created the first real opening after 17 minutes when PSV keeper Heurelho Gomes could only parry Maceo Rigters' 20-yard shot, but nobody was there to tap in the rebound.
Socceroo Jason Culina's side, trounced 5-1 by Ajax in their last game, started sluggishly and looked like a team with half an eye on Tuesday's Champions League quarter-final with Liverpool.
In the 21st minute Ernie Brandts' side had another great chance to open the scoring when Anouar Diba found Edwin De Graaf who pulled his shot wide from close range.
Only moments later De Graaf looked set to make amends after racing clear down the right channel, but Phillip Cocu used every bit of his experience to make an excellent last-ditch tackle.
A dazzling run from Ibrahim Afellay which saw the midfielder beat six players was worthy of a goal, but the 20-year-old was unable to provide the finish his dribble deserved, shooting wide from the left side of the penalty area.
But it was the home side who took the lead in the 52nd minute when Slot took advantage of a mix-up in PSV defence.
An uncharacteristic mistake from Cocu saw the former Dutch skipper underhit a pass to Manuel da Costa.
Slot took full advantage, intercepting the ball before firing past Gomes into the bottom-left corner.
Farfan made amends however, cutting in from the left before chipping the ball past advancing Breda keeper Edwin Zoetebier and into the back of the net for his 18th goal of the season.
