LUCAS Neill is today set to sign a new contract to remain at West Ham next season at a D-Day ultimatum meeting between the club and the Socceroo skipper's advisors.
The pow-wow at the club later today in the UK is tipped to at last finalise a deal that will keep Neill at Upton Park after weeks of uncertainty since his contract expired at the end of the season.
Neill has been strongly tipped with a move to join Socceroo sidekick Harry Kewell at Galatasaray in Turkey, as well talk of a possible move to Manchester City.
But despite the talk, West Ham coach Gianfranco Zola last week insisted he had high hopes of Neill returning to the London East End club.
"Lucas Neill is talking with the club," said Zola last Tuesday. "We need obviously to have some negotiations, but I am hoping that he is going to join us as soon as possible.
"I know his name has been linked to other clubs. Last time I spoke to the player he told me that if anything could happen he would call me first. So far he has not called me so I assume he is not yet going anywhere.
"He was an important player last year and our aim this year is to work to improve how we did last season and we hope that he will make his decision."
Now Sky Sports in the UK have been told the deal to keep Neill is all but done and will be finalised when the two sides meet later today.
Their website added: "It appears Neill is now set to stay at Upton Park."
