The Reds lie sixth on the English Premier League table, and the Scottish boss believes that results such as December 5's 1-0 loss to Fulham do not tell the whole story.

"I think the only stat that isn't in our favor is probably in the goals-for column," Dalglish told the club's official website, ahead of Sunday's trip to Aston Villa.

"We've got fewer points than the performances deserve. We've got that in our own hands and we'll just continue to do what we've done and sooner or later we'll turn our chances into goals."

Dalglish also believes his team has had the misfortune of meeting several goalkeepers in top form.

"We've not come up against a goalkeeper who hasn't been outstanding against us," he said.

"I think 16 times against the woodwork makes a contribution as well. At the same time, the responsibility is on us to create chances and then finish them off. We'll probably win a game scoring every chance that we make."

Later, at his press conference, Dalglish again offered his support to striker Luis Suarez, who is facing separate English FA probes over alleged racist remarks towards Manchester United's Patrice Evra and making an obscene gesture to the crowd against Fulham.

"We can't do or say anything that's going to be prejudicial in any way shape or form, so (in) regards Luis we'll just say what we've said before: we're standing right beside him and we'll help him as much as we can," Dalglish said.

"And after it's actually finished then there's a chance to have a conversation, and as I said last week I think the FA were the ones who should've given you the information when everything was happening."

"That's the last question we're having on Luis' situation," he added.
