Darcheville scored the only goal of the game in the final minute after coming on as substitute.

He told Setanta Sports: "The goal was very important because it was important for the team to win the game today. I`m scoring and I am very happy because the goal was so important."

Goalkeeper Allan McGregor added: "It was a massive win for the boys` confidence and to retain the four points ahead of Celtic in the league.

"I`ve not had a clean sheet for a wee while so it`s good to get one, especially away from home, but the most important thing is the three points."

Rangers manager Walter Smith was relieved to see Darcheville came off the bench to claim the winner after having a goal disallowed earlier in the game.

He told Setanta Sports: "It was a hard-fought win. We scored what I thought was a good goal and had it chalked off but managed to get the winner through Jean-Claude so I'm delighted."

Charlie Adam had the ball in the back of the net earlier in the game but the assistant referee claimed Daniel Cousin was offside and the goal was disallowed.

Television pictures suggested the official called it wrong but Smith was philosophical about the incident afterwards.

He added: "These things happen and it would obviously have been a bit more frustrating for us if we hadn't managed to the winner.

"We got that and we are pleased because Caley's recent record makes this a difficult place and it was a good win for us."

Inverness manager Craig Brewster thought a draw would have been a fair result and believed his players were set to take at least a point from the game.

He told Setanta Sports: "I just said to the players after the game that I thought they did well.

"I was gutted for them because of the amount of effort they put in and I thought the game had 0-0 written all over it.

"Then we lose a goal in the 89th minute and then we probably had the best chance of the game in the 90th minute to get back into the game and didn`t take it.

"All in all, I`m very disappointed."
