SOCCEROO Dario Vidosic came closest to scoring the winner as struggling Arminia Bielefeld edged closer to the drop after a 0-0 derby draw with VfL Osnabruck in Germany's 2.Bundesliga.
Vidosic, who started and played 82 minutes in the clash, was one of Arminia's more dangerous attacking players.
The Australian came close to scoring in the 21st minute after Sebastian Heidinger's headed pass, but his right-footed shot from outside the box went narrowly wide.
The result leaves Arminia rooted to the foot of the table on 15 points with five games to play, 12 points behind Osnabruck who are in 16th, the relegation playoff position.
Vidosic is on loan at Bielefeld from Bundesliga outfit FC Nurnberg for the remainder of the season.
Elsewhere overnight, in Holland's Eredivisie, Brett Holman played 70 minutes as AZ Alkmaar missed the chance to consolidate a Europa League place after a 1-1 draw with NAC Breda.
AZ took a first-half lead thanks to Rasmus Elm's penalty, before Holman almost provided the assist for a second but Pontus Wernbloom headed wide from his cross.
NAC equalised through Danny Gorter's 58th-minute penalty, meaning AZ remain in fourth, two points ahead of fifth-placed ADO Den Haag.
In England's League Two, Aussie goalkeeper Alex Cisak played a full game as playoffs-hopefuls Accrington Stanley drew 2-2 at Macclesfield Town.
In Ireland's Premier Division, Chris O'Connor returned from injury and kept a clean sheet as Bohemians defeated UCD 2-0.
