In Japan, Mark Milligan played the entire match as JEF United secured their first victory in six matches thanks to a 56th minute penalty from Koki Yonekura against Gainare Tottori at Fukuda Denshi Arena.

Elsewhere in J2 League, Former Wellington defender Jade North continued at the heart of FC Tokyo’s defence. His side defeated Mito Hollyhock 2-0 in front of 22, 866 adoring fans at the Ajinomoto Stadium to clinch promotion to Japan’s premier division.  

In FA Cup action, Shane Cansdell-Sherriff and his Shrewsbury Town teammates avoided defeat against non-league side Newport County with a 1-0 win at Newport Stadium. A 41st minute goal from 21 year-old Terry Gornell was enough to send the Shrews through to the second round.

Alex Cisak and James Wesolowski both put in full shifts as Oldham Athletic booked their place in the second round thanks to a 3-1 win over 10-man Burton Albion at Boundary Park.

Former Central Coast Mariners National Youth League keeper, Matthew Nemes was an unused substitute in non-league side, Southport’s 3-1 defeat at home to Barnet.

New Al Ahli coach Quique Sanchez-Flores watched from the stands as his side defeated Marco Bresciano’s Al Nasri 3-2 in the Emirates Cup. Bresciano had a chance late on to equalise but his free kick beamed into the wall.

In Italy’s Lega Pro 2, twenty year-old and former South Melbourne midfielder Francesco Stella opened the scoring in Borgo a Buggiano’s 2-0 home win over Giacomense. The midfielder found the back of the net with 54th minutes gone and the result was put beyond doubt courtesy of a 89th minute goal from Roberto Rocchi.

Over in the Czech second division, eighteen year-old Sam Conway was substituted 12 minutes before the interval during Banik Most’s 2-0 loss at Sparktak Sezimovo Usti. Banik Most are now winless in their last five matches and sit four points adrift of safety.
