FULHAM midfielder Simon Davies has been named as the Wales Footballer of the Year award winner.
The 28-year-old received the award at the FA of Wales' awards dinner at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
The Haverfordwest-born player won his 50th cap for his country during the year, and also stepped in as captain on several occasions in the absence of Craig Bellamy - last year's winner of the award.
At club level, former Tottenham and Everton player Davies was also a prominent figure in Fulham's dramatic Premier League survival.
Bellamy is expected to reclaim the armband for Saturday's World Cup qualifier against Liechtenstein in Cardiff.
However Davies' emergence as a leader will not be forgotten. In a turbulent year, with boss John Toshack's squad constantly hit by injuries, many teenagers have been introduced to the senior side.
The experienced Davies has played a major part in the squad's transition with his calm leadership critical.
Davies has now won 53 senior caps and scored six goals, and is the most-capped player in Toshack's current squad.
The Young Player of the Year prize went to Tottenham defender Chris Gunter, who has made a big impact since joining the London club. The 19-year-old has now won eight caps.
The Club Player of the Year award went to Cardiff's Joe Ledley for his role in the Coca-Cola Championship club's run to the FA Cup final last season, when they were narrowly beaten at Wembley by Portsmouth.
