Attacking midfielder Davies was released by Melbourne Victory earlier today and has put pen to paper on a 2.5 year contract that will see him in the Queensland capital until the end of the 2014/15 season.

“He’s an exciting young prospect, quick, creative and I’m sure the Brisbane Roar fans will enjoy seeing him play,” said Roar coach Mike Mulvey.

“He can play in any of the wide positions but we’ll see at training where he fits best within our system.”

Davies has already had experience overseas, venturing to Germany as a 15-year-old where he played for the junior teams at Bayern Munich and 1899 Hoffenheim.

“I’ve been aware of him with his recent past with Melbourne Victory and before that, with Bayern Munich,” Mulvey said.

“He’s someone I’m sure the other players will enjoy having around and one I think that can terrorise the opposition on the pitch.”

Davies had been with the Victory since returning home from Europe in January 2012 and scored the only consolation goal when the Roar triumphed 6-1 in last month’s National Youth League fixture against the Melbourne side.

Following yesterday’s signing of Qantas Socceroo Jade North, Brisbane Roar now have 21 contracted players in their Hyundai A-League squad.

Yesterday Roar released Rocky Visconte who was today confirmed as the latest signing for Tony Popovic at the Wanderers.

Popovic said he was pleased to bring Visconte into the Wanderers and bolster the depth of his squad.

“Rocky is a good young player and he is very hungry and ambitious and we are very pleased to have him to add to our attacking options in the squad,” Popovic said.

“He has not had a lot of match time at Roar and we will take the next week or so to work with him and see exactly where he is at.

“We are looking forward to having him with us and we will be working hard together to bring the best out of him.”

Executive Chairman Lyall Gorman said he welcomed Visconte into the Wanderers squad which now numbered 22.

“Rocky is a very talented player and brings experience, speed and depth to the club’s midfield attack,” Gorman said.

“He is also a very good character and will be a good fit into our culture and our club.”

Visconte said he was looking forward to making an impact at the Wanderers.

“I have seen and heard that there is something very special happening out here at Western Sydney and I am very happy to join the club,” Visconte said.

“This club is sitting in the top four so it is obviously doing something very positive and I want to take the next three months and show what I have got.

“Tony and Ante (Milicic) and the coaching staff have shown faith in me and I am determined to show them what I can bring for the future.”
