De Silva, 20, is the early favourite to claim the Young Footballer award after an outstanding opening two months to the 2017/18 A-League season.

The Perth-born attacking midfielder returned to the A-League prior to this season after two underwhelming years in the Netherlands with Roda JC having left Glory in 2015.

De Silva's form, which included a goal in Saturday's 4-1 win away to Wellington Phoenix, has seen him shoot into Socceroos calculations according to onlookers.

But the youngster is solely focused on team success and improving as a player for now.

"For me it's about taking each training session and each game at a time and if something good comes of that, then it's fantastic," he said.

"For me, my focus is not on awards, It's about helping the team to victories and make good performances and play good football.

"That's my goal, to become a better player as well. If something good comes of it, then that's fantastic but it's not the big thing for me."

De Silva spent three years at Glory, making 33 A-League appearances and showing glimpses of his potential, earning him a move to AS Roma which never quite transpired.

His return to the A-League has seen him produce more consistent displays.

"I think when i started off in the A-League I was still very young. I still had a lot to learn," he said.

"I'm still learning a lot now. I've just matured a bit in my game now.

"I'm in a really good team with a great playing style and great players around me, so it makes it a bit easier for me."
