Fishlock broke the deadlock in the 107th minute after the game finished goalless in normal time.

De Vanna ran towards the unsuspecting Fishlock off-the-ball, elbowing her from behind which caused her to go ground in the 109th minute. Shortly after It had the Welsh international remonstrating with Durcau.

Both De Vanna and Fishlock know each other well after being teammates at Melbourne Victory and City. And The Matildas striker will get away with the incident, but is copping it on social media for her motives.

There is no MRP for the W-League and NYL for the reason that not every game is broadcasted and it would be inconsistent to adjudicate such incidents.

De Vanna and Fishlock in their Victory days

GIO Stadium attracted 5097 in the double header where Central Coast Mariners won 2-1 against Adelaide United before the W-League Semi. Fishlock knew the majority of the crowd came to see Canberra progress to the Grand Final.

“We know that nobody wants us to win,” Fishlock said.

“We know nobody here wanted us to win today. We just blocked it out, focused on ourselves and went about the job like we did.”

The Semi was originally scheduled for 2pm but due to concerns with the blistering heat which was predicted to soar as high as 37c, it was moved to 8pm.

Fishlock celebrates her winning goal

Fishlock spoke of the sensation she had when she opened the scoring in extra-time.

“I guess I knew I hit it the right angle into the corner. I knew that I was onto the ball first and had a little bit of time,” Fishlock said.

“But you never know, Trudy pulled off an unbelievable save in the first half of extra time. That I don’t know how she saved to be honest.”

“When I saw it go in, it was one of the best feelings I’ve had.”
